Technology on the Move to Help Solve Crime (Part 6)

The next issue about the evils of technology is the propagation of computer viruses. These computer viruses are also made by „geniuses“, or highly intelligent people in terms of computers, that plan to set an annoying goal upon computers worldwide. They use unique means to spread the virus such as the USB’s that people borrow from each other. Though it may seem harmless for others, it is also not to be taken lightly. Technology now uses many virus detectors to prevent this from happening. Though we still don’t know how the coming viruses could become more upgraded and insusceptible to these prevention methods. Time could only tell.

Another issue is that of hackers. These are those who know their way around computers and their weaknesses but are not hackers human beings as well? There is now a clash on the use of genius and technology. One uses it for his selfishness, another uses it for the benefit of all. Since it’s not a bad idea to use fire against fire, experts have created programs that may prevent hackers from doing their job.

The battle now takes place on whether who’s got better wits than the other. Is it the good guys or the bad guys? We’ll never know for sure.

Aside from the fact that the authority’s method of catching the bad guys are flawed, it had also been the argument of many. There had been an outbreak of paranoia that made people fear clicking on the links. First arguments have pointed out that people who have accidentally looked and clicked on the links might ne wrongly accused by the police. Second argument goes to say that there are people who can be locked up just because of a wrong movement of the finger.

Instead of giving out security and relief, the opposite have taken place. It seems as though that fear and paranoia have been impressed on the mass.

The the police have formulated a „noble“ plan, still, there are flaws that need to be revised and improved. The issue of clicking their way to jail had caused a debate through those who knew of it. Though some are caught and locked up in jail, there are still people without URL’s that allow the authorities to identify them. In other words, this is a plan that doesn’t wipe-out the crime of child pornography but encourages a brand new method of doing it.

Since human beings are flawed too, there is no question that there would always be loopholes. Like technology has fought with technology, so does man need to face with man.

The authorities, specifically the FBI, has made possible ways on how to identify people who click on and enter sites that encourage child pornography. Anyone who clicks on these sites are to be arrested and identified by the police. This action had been noted as a „noble quest.“

Many have been arrested by the authority. This is truly a smart method of fighting crime in the Internet. Nonetheless, there is no guarantee that it is a fool-proof plan in catching everyone who enters the sites. There should indeed be more revisions on this unpolished plan on the part of the authority.

The technology today has been used as a gadget to help out in different areas. One of these areas is crime. There had been notorious propagandas regarding child pornography in the net. Now, technology is used to fight technology itself.

Child pornography is a site where underaged kids are asked to pose maliciously. It is no different with child abuse. It deprives the children of a morally dignified life style. This is, of course, illegal and the authorities have made way to fight it.

Security for e-commerce Web

It is very important to check whether the site you are entering is not a scam where you lose your assets. You have to make sure that you have made the necessary and practical security systems in your computer. If you are still at a loos on how to do so, then please refer to the following suggestions:

• Check the security of the server hosting the site
• download the appropriate Security Configuration Guide from the U.S. National Security Agency Web site
• use the NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) Security Configuration Checklists Repository for instructions and procedures
• Benchmark and Scoring Tools from the Center for Internet Security (CIS) to evaluate an e-commerce Web infrastructure and compare its level of security against minimum due-care security benchmarks

ASUS eee versus The Neo Explore

As time passes, laptop computers have become more recognized than the normal computers. They are portable and can be brought anywhere. Aside from Mac laptops and Asus, there is now another competitor in the business. Asus, which originally offered small and affordable laptops is now faced with The Neo Explore. Though it seems that the new gadget had won over the consumers because of its lower price, there are still glitches that the company had overlooked.

To be able to sell their product for a cheaper price, they have used Linux instead of Microsoft. Though the company aimed the younger generation to use this gadget, they have neglected to see through the possibility that they may become shocked with the unfamiliar system.
